Our methodologists, together with experts from Cambridge University Press, have designed a unique language development system for your child with one clear focus: communication first. We draw on the TPR (Total Physical Response) method and the CLIL approach. The syllabus, designed for children aged 6–12, includes six levels that build communication skills step by step — from the first words in a new language all the way to confident, fluent speaking. Yes, the classes are conducted live by a qualified teacher via MS Teams. The teacher and the child can see and hear each other at all times. The teacher can share their screen, audio, and interactive exercises, and also uses a digital whiteboard. Additionally, we use many engaging tools to create language exercises, tasks in the form of games or quizzes, which make the classes more attractive. That’s why Ditto is a true online language school, unlike other services that rely on playing recordings and exercises without any contact with a teacher.
Absolutely, we even recommend that the child meets the teacher and gets familiar with the lesson format before starting the course, as they will be developing their language skills under their guidance for an extended period. We provide a 20-minute trial lesson — the cost is covered by Ditto Kids.
You will be kept up to date at all times — after each lesson, the parent will receive a summary of the class and feedback on the child’s progress. Progress and a description of the topics covered can also be tracked in the online journal.
According to experts, the expected attention span of a child is two to three minutes per year of age. This means that an 8-year-old can concentrate for about 16–24 minutes, and a 12-year-old for 24–36 minutes. This is the amount of time a typical child can focus on a given task. That’s why our lessons last 25 minutes — to make the most of the child’s focus.
At Ditto Kids, the teacher speaks exclusively in the target language, using the Total Physical Response (TPR) method, which involves engaging all the senses to aid understanding and improve memory. The main goal of the lessons is communication in the foreign language.
All teachers are linguists qualified to teach their language as a foreign language or native speakers with teaching qualifications. They have also completed training in the Ditto Kids method and work daily under the supervision of the methodology supervisor. Additionally, they regularly participate in our internal training program dedicated to online teaching.
The technical requirements are minimal. It’s best to use a laptop or desktop computer. You can also join lessons using a tablet. The device you use must have a camera (built-in or external) and a microphone.
Of course, you need internet access with a minimum speed of 1 Megabit (upload/download). For a stable connection, it’s best to connect the device to the network via cable.
To make your child’s participation as comfortable as possible, we recommend using a headset.
It is not necessary, but we encourage parents to be present during the first lessons to help with technical matters and to make the child feel more comfortable.
