The online Italian communication learning system at Ditto Kids is a completely different approach from ordinary courses and does not resemble traditional school learning. We set aside books and notebooks to take your child into the world of the Italian language and help them develop the ability to understand this melodic language and to speak it — which is not only the foundation of knowing a foreign language but its essence.
The carefully prepared syllabus is divided into 3 stages and features very attractive graphic and multimedia materials, which form the basis of our courses taught by fantastic Italian teachers who love the language and culture of Italy as well as working with children.
In our online Italian courses for kids, our methodological team ensures the syllabus is implemented in accordance with CEFR, guaranteeing steady progress in Italian language skills. Thanks to this, your child will feel comfortable in an Italian-speaking environment already after the first stage of the course.
The Formica course is designed for children who are beginning their adventure in the world of Italian culture and language through an online Italian course for kids. The lessons are primarily full of laughter and fun, and in each lesson with the teacher, the child learns a new batch of vocabulary and expressions in Italian and is able to speak and answer questions related to the lesson topic. The program covers level A1.1 according to the CEFR scale.
Cucciolo (which means “little puppy” in Italian) is an online Italian course for children and represents the next stage of language development after completing the Formica course. Additionally, it’s excellent for children who have already had some exposure to Italian at school or other lessons but still lack the skills and sometimes the confidence to use what they know in communication — and that doesn’t mean they have to start from the beginning.
The first meeting with the teacher, a trial lesson, is designed to assess the child’s current knowledge and precisely determine from which lesson in the Ditto Kids program the child should begin.
Stage 2 – Cucciolo allows children to reach level A1.2 according to the European CEFR scale. Each of the 90 lessons introduces a new topic and enriches the child’s vocabulary by presenting new concepts using carefully developed visual materials and interactive exercises, which form the basis for communication and dialogue.
The Gufetto online Italian course for children is designed for kids who have mastered communication in basic situations and can hold simple dialogues as well as talk about themselves and their surroundings. This course is for those who have fallen in love with the Italian language and its sound and now want to continue on the path toward language independence. Classes at this level provide a clear development of language skills based on the knowledge from stages 1 and 2, and additionally are enriched with cultural knowledge, allowing the child to broaden their understanding of the world through the Italian language.
During the Gufetto online Italian course for children, we will cover level A2.1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Of course! We offer a free trial lesson for every child. It’s a great opportunity to get familiar with the lesson format, materials, and language exercises prepared as part of the Ditto Kids courses, and most importantly, to meet the teacher who will be teaching the regular lessons. The trial lesson also helps to determine the best learning program tailored to your child’s needs and interests.
Lessons take place at least twice a week for 25 minutes each. However, the recommended frequency for the best results is 3-4 lessons with a teacher per week. Regularity is the foundation of language learning, especially when the child does not have daily contact with the language. Therefore, short 25-minute lessons but with greater frequency are an ideal solution, as the lesson length allows for maximum concentration without the feeling of fatigue, creating perfect conditions for natural absorption of the Italian language in a relaxed atmosphere.

Individual lessons at Ditto Kids are fully adapted to your availability and your child's schedule. Fixed class times are arranged before the course begins, ensuring regular learning and progress. There is also the possibility to cancel a lesson free of charge with a one-day notice in case of urgent situations.
Learning multiple foreign languages from an early age stimulates a child’s mental development, quick thinking, reaction speed, and flexibility. There’s no need to worry that two language systems will get confused, even if the child is already learning another Romance language like Spanish or French. The stage when the two languages overlap is transitional, and later on, the child will only benefit from having started learning several foreign languages early on.
A key advantage of starting before the age of 10 is the ability to learn perfect pronunciation and the natural rhythm of the language, as well as internalize grammatical structures naturally. This foundation helps develop near-native speaker skills in the future. Also, the path to passing the Italian language CELI exam and obtaining an international certificate is much shorter and easier in such cases.
The Ditto Kids team consists of highly educated teachers—language specialists passionate about the Italian language and working with children. Besides their pedagogical qualifications, they are trained in the Ditto Kids method and teach under the guidance of a methodologist, ensuring that every lesson is well-prepared, engaging, and effective.
During the course, the teacher will keep you informed about the material covered and your child’s progress — after each lesson, you will receive a brief summary of the class along with access to lesson materials and optional additional exercises that you can use for revision in a fun way if you want to practice the language with your child at home outside of lessons.
Each Italian lesson for children at Ditto Kids lasts 25 minutes and is dedicated to a specific topic — the child learns new vocabulary based on presented materials, practices responding to the teacher’s questions, and also learns to ask questions and describe objects and phenomena. Importantly, the child relates the topic to their own life and experiences. Learning Italian online for children brings quick and lasting results because, using the Ditto Kids method, the child absorbs vocabulary and language rules involuntarily and spontaneously, without feeling like they are studying. Grammar doesn’t require explanations or rule presentations, as research and our experience show — children naturally acquire the rules by repeating and imitating the teacher.
